Bioavailability of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids

In herring oil, the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are bound to phospholipids. The special properties of phospholipids mean that DHA and EPA fatty acids are absorbed more quickly, and you also don't get unpleasant fishy regurgitation. The entire Cook et al study (2016) can be found here.

A clinical study shows that Romega® provides both faster and higher absorption of omega-3 than regular fish oil. Already after one dose, the levels of EPA and DHA in the blood were significantly higher in participants who received Romega®.
